aslogo1Anderson Strathern duo, Robert Carr and Sara Jalicy, have returned to Knox Academy in Haddington to answer questions about their time as pupils at the school and their successful careers in the law.

Both are Partners at the top Scottish law firm Anderson Strathern which has its East Lothian office in Haddington’s Court Street.

Robert, who is the Chairman of the firm, has received awards for his work on many high-profile cases and has acted as a legal advisor to a range of key bodies including the Scottish Government.

Sara is one of Scotland’s most talented young lawyers having won a Rising Star of the Year award in 2015. By the age of 29 she was the youngest partner at Anderson Strathern and was soon running the firm’s large residential property team..

During the lively Question & Answer session with pupils, both FPs spoke of their enjoyable time at Knox Academy and offered advice to youngsters on how to make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.

They were then given a guided tour of the renovated school by senior students, some of whom may consider a legal career in the future.

Knox Academy’s Headteacher, Sarah Ingham, warmly thanked both Robert and Sara for taking time out of their busy schedules to encourage the school’s current crop of youngsters.

Mrs Ingham also said how grateful she was to both Anderson Strathern and the Law Society of Scotland whose support made the visit possible.

Liz Campbell, Director of Education and Training at the Law Society of Scotland also complimented Anderson Strathern saying, “We are delighted that Robert Carr and Sara Jalicy have given their support in this way as legal education in schools helps to produce informed, confident and active citizens.

“Events such as this go a long way to breaking down some of the misconceptions and stereotypes which still persist about solicitors and the work they do.”

Speaking on behalf of Impressive People, Director Patrick Gaffney added, “We were all highly impressed by the pupils and staff who made Robert and Sara’s return to Knox Academy so enjoyable.”
