Biography
Bill joined the top law firm Brodies LLP as a young trainee in 1980 and went on to be elected Managing Partner in 1998.
Under his leadership Brodies has tripled in size and now has clients in all major sectors along with an excellent reputation in the UK and abroad.
To his credit, when Brodies was named UK Law Firm of the Year at the British Legal Awards in 2014, Bill was quick to stress the achievement was due to the hard work and talent of the entire Brodies team.
Nevertheless, his colleagues in the firm are well aware of just how vital a role he has played in Brodies’ remarkable growth.
Bill attributes much of his success to attitudes developed at home and as a pupil at the local school in North Berwick on the east coast of Scotland. From there he went on to study law at Aberdeen University.
He is now well known in legal and business circles and recently completed a spell as the Chairman of the Scottish Council for Development & Industry, a key body which advises the Scottish government on vital economic matters.
