Sir Declan Morgan is the senior judge in Northern Ireland. His full title is Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland.
Sir Declan grew up in the city of Derry which is also know as Londonderry. After leaving St Columb’s College he studied at Cambridge University and then Queen’s University in Belfast.
In 1976, Sir Declan became a barrister and soon began impressing his colleagues in the legal community. Declan went on to become a Queen’s Counsel (QC) and in 2003 was appointed to the High Court of Northern Ireland.
His great skill, intelligence and determination in dealing with many challenging cases led to his appointment as Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland in 2009.
